Fanbedarf.de: a 3D jacket configurator for fan club track tops

Fanbedarf.de is a textile workshop and showroom in Nuremberg-Zerzabelshof, Germany, making fan merchandise and club wear for fan clubs, sports clubs, brands and companies across the country. Embroidery, printing, laser engraving and tailoring sit under one roof, and the team describes itself as part of the fan scene. One of its products is the track top: a training jacket tailored to order in a fan club’s colours, with the club’s logo embroidered on the chest and its name across the back.

In August 2026, Fanbedarf.de added a 3D jacket configurator to fanbedarf.de, built in Simplio3D. Fan clubs pick one of four Track Top models, colour every part of it in fabric colours, see the jacket in 3D and send the design as a non-binding request. The setup was straightforward and quick: upload the 3D models, assign the fabric colours, add a contact form and embed the result on a WordPress page.

What the client needed

See the jacket before it is made

Every track top is tailored to one club’s order, so clubs needed to see their model and colours before asking for a quote.

Four cuts, four colour layouts

Each Track Top model is divided differently: shoulder panels on one, a shoulder and chest panel on another, contrasting sleeves on a third. Each needed its own colour choices.

Club colours, matched

Fan clubs dress in their club’s colours, so every part of the jacket needed the full range of fabric colours, and any other shade on top.

A request the workshop can quote

The request had to carry the model, every colour, the quantity and the club’s wishes, so the team could prepare a design preview and a quote.

No checkout

Whether a wish fits the base price or costs a little extra depends on the quantity and the finishing, so the configurator ends in a request, not a cart.

Quick to put live

A tool a small workshop could set up without a development project: models, colours and a form, embedded in its existing WordPress site.

The solution: a 3D jacket configurator with four Track Top models

The configurator has its own page on fanbedarf.de, Trainingsjacke individuell gestalten (design your own training jacket), and the homepage promotes it with a Jetzt gestalten (design now) button. It is in German. On the right of the 3D view, Track Top Variante shows the four models as pictures, Top 1 to Top 4, and picking one swaps the jacket on screen. Behind the jacket, the background is patterned with the Fanbedarf.de logo.

Below the models come the colour rows for that model, one per part of the jacket: Hauptfarbe (main colour), Streifen-Farbe (stripes), Reißverschluss-Farbe (zip) and Bündchen-Farbe (ribbing) on every model, plus the panel that sets each model apart. The jacket turns and zooms in 3D, close enough to see the stitching along the zip and the seams.

The Fanbedarf.de jacket configurator: a yellow Top 1 track jacket in 3D on a background patterned with the Fanbedarf.de logo, beside the Track Top Variante row with pictures of Top 1, Top 2, Top 3 and Top 4, and the colour rows Hauptfarbe, Streifen-Farbe, Reissverschluss-Farbe and Bündchen-Farbe, each with 17 swatches and a colour wheel
Four Track Top models, then one row of fabric colours for each part of the chosen jacket.
A close-up of a Top 4 jacket in 3D: a carbon grey body with a white zip and a light piping seam across the chest, black sleeves with light grey stripe bands, and stitching visible along the zip, beside the colour rows Hauptfarbe, Ärmel-Farbe (sleeves), Streifen-Farbe and Bündchen-Farbe
Zoomed in on Top 4: sleeves in their own colour, with the stripes and stitching visible.

Fabric colours for every part of the jacket

Every colour row offers the same 17 fabric colours: white, beige, black, carbon, light grey, fire red, red, burgundy, royal blue, navy, yellow, dark yellow, green, dark green, brown, violet and pink. The 3D jacket changes as soon as a swatch is picked. For a club colour outside that range, a colour wheel at the end of each row opens a picker that takes any colour, down to its hex code.

The rows follow the model. Conditional logic shows only the parts the chosen model has, so a club never colours a panel its jacket does not have:

  • Top 1: main colour, stripes, zip and ribbing;
  • Top 2: the same four, plus a shoulder colour (Schulter-Farbe);
  • Top 3: the same four, plus a shoulder and chest colour (Schulter/Brust-Farbe);
  • Top 4: the same four, plus a sleeve colour (Ärmel-Farbe).

What fan clubs can choose

Four models, in the order the configurator shows them. The model decides which colour rows appear.

Top 1Main colour, stripes, zip, ribbing
Top 2Main colour, stripes, shoulders, ribbing, zip

Top 4Main colour, sleeves, stripes, ribbing, zip
Every row17 fabric colours, from white, beige, black, carbon and light grey to royal blue, navy, dark green, burgundy and pink, plus any colour from the picker

A summary of the finished jacket

A toolbar beside the 3D view holds the viewing tools: reset the camera, start over, full screen, the configuration summary, a screenshot and a share link. The Configuration Summary lists the model and every colour by name, for example Top 2 in dark green with carbon stripes, green shoulders, light grey ribbing and a white zip, so a club can check the whole jacket in one place. The screenshot and the share link make it easy to show a design to the rest of the club.

A Top 2 track jacket in 3D with a dark green body, a carbon grey stripe across the chest, green shoulders, light grey ribbing on the collar, cuffs and waistband, and a white zip. The open Configuration Summary lists Track Top Variante: Top 2, Hauptfarbe: Dunkelgrün, Streifen-Farbe: Carbon, Schulter-Farbe: Grün, Bündchen-Farbe: Hellgrau and Reißverschluss-Farbe: Weiss, and a colour picker is open with the hex code FFFFFF
The summary names the model and every colour; the colour wheel opens a picker for any shade.

How a fan club orders its track jacket

  1. Choose a model

Pick Top 1, 2, 3 or 4 under Track Top Variante. The jacket changes in 3D, along with the colour rows it needs.

  2. Colour every part

Choose the main colour, stripes, zip, ribbing and the model’s own panel from 17 fabric colours, or any colour from the picker.

  3. Send a non-binding request

Unverbindlich anfragen opens a short form: name, email, the quantity band and any wishes, such as appliqués.

  4. Send the logo and lettering

Through the site’s Anfrage starten (start a request) form, the club sends its logo and the lettering for the back. Fanbedarf.de sets up both free of charge.

  5. Approve the design

Fanbedarf.de sends a design preview and a binding quote with a delivery date. Nothing is binding until the club approves it.

A non-binding request instead of a checkout

The configurator shows no price and has no cart. A tailored jacket is priced by quantity and finishing, so the last step is Unverbindlich anfragen (ask without obligation). It opens a short form headed Deine Trainingsjacke, dein Design – jetzt anfragen! (your training jacket, your design: ask now). The form asks for a name and an email address, the quantity in one of four bands (15–25, 25–50, 50–100 or 100+) and the club’s wishes, such as appliqués and other details, and the visitor accepts the terms and the privacy policy. The request reaches Fanbedarf.de with the model and every colour.

The page around the configurator explains the rest. A jacket costs from €49.90 including VAT, with the embroidered chest logo and the back lettering included, and the minimum order is 15 jackets, or 10 for a smaller fan club by arrangement. The back lettering can be embroidered or sewn on as patchwork letters. Sublimation, chenille patches, contrast taping and, for larger orders, woven patches are available on request, and delivery takes three to five weeks from design approval.

Diagram: the configurator page on fanbedarf.de, linked from the homepage and with a three-step guide and an FAQ, leads to the Simplio3D 3D jacket configurator, with four Track Top models, four or five colour zones each, 17 colours or any colour, and a summary, screenshot and share link. Unverbindlich anfragen sends a request with a name, email, quantity band and wishes. The club sends its logo and back lettering through the site’s Anfrage starten form, and Fanbedarf.de replies with a design preview and a binding quote with a delivery date. Below, the setup with no shop integration and no code: upload the four Track Top 3D models, assign 17 fabric colours to every zone of every model, add a contact form for the name, email, quantity band and wishes, and embed it with one iframe on a WordPress page of fanbedarf.de.
How a club goes from its colours to a quote, and the four steps that set the configurator up.

Quick to set up: models, colours and a form

The Fanbedarf.de configurator uses a small part of what Simplio3D can do, which is why it was straightforward to put live. The setup came down to four things:

  • Upload the 3D models. The four Track Top jackets went in as 3D models, each with the parts that take a colour of their own.
  • Assign the fabric colours. The 17 fabric colours became a swatch row for every part of every model, with the colour picker for anything else, and rules show only the rows the chosen model has.
  • Add the contact form. The request form asks for a name, an email address, a quantity band and wishes, and sends them with the configuration.
  • Embed it. One iframe put the configurator on a WordPress page of fanbedarf.de, with no plugin and no shop integration, and a teaser on the homepage links to it.

There are no prices, AR or design canvases to set up, so there is little to maintain either. A new colour or another model is a change made in the Simplio3D dashboard, without touching the website. More on configuring garments: the 3D clothing configurator.

The teaser on the fanbedarf.de homepage: the heading Trainingsjacke individuell gestalten, the line Komplett geschneidert ab 49,90 € pro Stück, a short text inviting fan clubs and clubs to design their jacket in 3D from 15 pieces, a red Jetzt gestalten button, and a picture of the configurator with a black Top 4 jacket with red sleeves and white stripes, its colour rows and an open colour picker

Results

Clubs design before they ask

A fan club picks its model and colours every part of the jacket in 3D, then asks for a quote with the design already worked out.

Requests that arrive complete

Each request names the model, every colour, the quantity band and the club’s wishes, ready for a design preview and a quote.

Live without a project

Models, colours and a form were enough to put a 3D configurator on the site, and changing them needs no developer.

Questions about this project

A tool in which a customer picks a jacket model and its colours and sees the result in 3D before ordering or asking for a quote. Fanbedarf.de’s runs in the browser on fanbedarf.de and ends in a non-binding request.

What a project like this would add today

None of this section is part of the Fanbedarf.de configurator described above, which runs on the earlier version of Simplio3D. For a club wear maker starting now:

  • The club’s logo and lettering on the 3D jacket. Image Upload lets a customer add their own image, Text Input puts custom text on the model with a choice of fonts, and the Design Canvas places logos and artwork freely. A club could see its crest on the chest and its name across the back before sending the request, rather than sending them separately.
  • Colour ranges added in bulk. The material library is shared across projects, and bulk-add by category turns a range of fabric colours into a swatch set without authoring each option by hand.
  • Another garment from a description. A first configurator for another product, such as a windbreaker or shorts, can be generated from a written description, then finished by hand.
  • Checking the rules. The AI assistant can audit option coverage and conditional logic, for instance that each of the four models shows all of its colour rows, and propose repairs where one is missing.
  • Requests and an AI agent. An AI client such as Claude, connected to the workspace over MCP with a scoped connection, can read incoming quote requests and summarise them for the team. Anything an agent reads is sent to the user’s AI provider, including the customer details in a request, and changes to prices only ever arrive as pending changes that a person applies.
